Scanning

How do I scan a puzzle?
Tap Scan and point the camera at the puzzle so the whole grid is visible. When the outline turns solid, hold steady for a moment and Masu captures it automatically. You can also tap Import photo to use a picture from your library.
Tips for a clean read
Use even light and avoid strong glare or shadows across the grid. Fill most of the frame with the puzzle, and keep the phone roughly parallel to the page.
A digit was read wrong
On the review screen, uncertain cells are marked in amber. Tap any cell to correct it. If the grid outline is off, use Adjust corners and drag the four corners onto the grid.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Recognition happens entirely on your device, and images are never stored or sent anywhere.

Solve, Check and Hint

What does Check do?
It compares what you've filled in so far against the puzzle's logic. It tells you if everything is consistent, or points out the conflicting or likely-wrong cells, without revealing the rest of the solution.
How do hints work?
If you have a wrong entry, the first hint points it out. Otherwise Masu highlights the next logical step and explains the technique; tap Apply to place it. Each game includes free hints. When they run out, you can watch an optional short ad for more. If no ad is available (for example offline), you still get a hint.

Daily Sudoku, stats and Game Center

When does the Daily Sudoku change?
Every day at 00:00 UTC. Everyone gets the same puzzle on the same day.
Leaderboards and achievements
Sign in to Game Center in iOS Settings. Only games finished without hints submit a time to the leaderboards.
I lost my progress
Games and stats are stored only on your device. They are kept in iPhone/iPad backups, but are removed if you delete the app.

Ads and privacy choices

Why are there ads?
Ads keep Masu free. You'll see a small banner, a short ad before a scan, and optional rewarded ads for extra hints.
How do I change my ad consent?
In Masu, open Settings › Privacy choices (shown where consent is required). Tracking permission can be changed in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
